Happy Thanksgiving week, friends! We left rainy western Oregon on Sunday afternoon and are spending the week in crisp and windy Connecticut with my whole family. It has been fun to spend a few days with cousins and grandparents, and it has been really interesting to be in this part of the country at this particular time of year. We spent an afternoon exploring Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, that replicates the original colony built by the Pilgrims in the early 17th century, and home sites of the Wampanoag people that lived nearby on the Eel River. It was really fun for the kids and fascinating for the adults, and it was the perfect way to spend a few hours just before Thanksgiving.
Today, we’re putting together our Thanksgiving menu and shopping list. I fully expect to make last minute additions, but here’s what we’re having so far: turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and turkey pan gravy,Momo’s rolls, stuffing,Kelsey Nixon’s cranberry salad, creamed corn, candied yams, cheesy broccoli-cauliflower casserole, carrots, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, pumpkin chiffon pie, cherry pie, chocolate chess pie, razzleberry pie, lemon ice box pie, chocolate cupcakes(our baby is turning 3!), and cranberry punch. WHEW!!! There’s no way we’ll eat it all, but a large number of us fall into the group of people who enjoy Thanksgiving leftovers as much if not more than Thanksgiving dinner. I’m excited to shop for the ingredients. I’m excited to make the food. And I’m excited to eat it!
My family has never been interested in Black Friday, which I think is kind of a relief (the stress!), but at midnight on Black Friday, I’m kicking off the big holiday sale inmy Etsy shop. This will be your very last chance to buy, recipe cards, and enamel pinson salebefore the holidays. Everything in the shop will be 15% off, no coupon needed. You can stock up on books and stocking stuffers for friends and family members. I don’t usually get really introspective on the blog, but I wanted you all to know how grateful I am for you. A lot of cool things have happened in the past couple of years because of you guys and your support and enthusiasm. Thanks for reading my blog, buying my book, and sending me happy emails. Happy Thanksgiving!!
